Motion to adopt agenda was made, seconded and passed. The minutes from the May members’ dinner meeting at Papago Park were discussed and deferred for later approval. Jim Burgess questioned the late arrival of his newsletter. Editor Adam Hunt explained that information and articles are not arriving on time for publications. Mr. Burgess also remarked and questioned if the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation allow exchange of money at events. Editor Adam Hunt reported interest in reading the newsletter on-line is good. We are currently printing 1600 copies and they are mailed at a cost of $350.00 per monthly issue. The Board suggested including running profiles once again in our newsletter and offered these reasons for providing a newsletter. Racing calendars, race results and current events are some of the reasons discussed. Visitor Lindsey reported a visit to the Kyrene office on a Saturday at 2:00 P.M. and found the office closed. EXECUTIVE SESSION Jerome Hill Climb will be contested on September 5, 2005. Laura Nagy is directing and insurance is pending. Ian reported clothing stocks are low and he is considering having a half price sale at Summer Series 5. Jack is currently negotiating with numerous schools and private interests in regards to timing their races and cross-country meets. He said interest from Bisbee and Prescott for our services is very positive. Louis presented ideas on election issues. Interested parties need to contact webmaster@arizonaroadracers.com in writing at least 14 days in advance of the election meeting on September 17, 2005. You must state your intentions to run for office. Candidates need to be recorded for on-line voting by September 3, 2005. Mail votes must be postmarked by September 10, 2005 Louis said The Scottsdale Running Company, our co-sponsor for Summer Series #2, is providing 100% of the food and beverages and also serving them to the runners. Sandra reported that she and Lee Baker marked and measured our course at Reach 11 for SS#2. Sandra also stated The Crown King Scramble 2006 has a signed agreement. Karla Averill and Monique Coady are presenting "The Mongrel Marathon" in October or November. The run is a 2.62-mile event to be run with your "mongrel" and will benefit the new dog park at Steele Park in Phoenix. Sandra mentioned AZTECH Training would like to see ARR consider presenting a training program for The Rock n Roll Marathon. Further discussion will follow. The treasurer’s report indicates a balance of $4000.00 and a $2000.00 deposit ready for the bank. Extensive discussions followed in regard to The Steering Committee. Factually, the committee has not been productive and has added no value to the club. In addition, four of the five committee members have resigned. A motion was made and seconded to eliminate The Steering Committee. The motion was carried by a unanimous vote. Meeting adjourned at 9:00 P.M.
