meeting at Papago Park were discussed and deferred for later approval.
Jim Burgess questioned the late arrival of his newsletter. Editor Adam Hunt explained that
information and articles are not arriving on time for publications.
Mr. Burgess also remarked and questioned if the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation allow exchange
of money at events.
Editor Adam Hunt reported interest in reading the newsletter on-line is good. We are currently
printing 1600 copies and they are mailed at a cost of $350.00 per monthly issue. The Board suggested
including running profiles once again in our newsletter and offered these reasons for providing a
newsletter. Racing calendars, race results and current events are some of the reasons discussed.
Visitor Lindsey reported a visit to the Kyrene office on a Saturday at 2:00 P.M. and found the office
closed.
EXECUTIVE SESSION

pending.
Ian reported clothing stocks are low and he is considering having a half price sale at Summer Series
5.
Jack is currently negotiating with numerous schools and private interests in regards to timing their
races and cross-country meets. He said interest from Bisbee and Prescott for our services is very
positive.
Louis presented ideas on election issues. Interested parties need to contact
webmaster@arizonaroadracers.com in writing at least 14 days in advance of the election meeting on
September 17, 2005. You must state your intentions to run for office. Candidates need to be recorded
for on-line voting by September 3, 2005. Mail votes must be postmarked by September 10, 2005
Louis said The Scottsdale Running Company, our co-sponsor for Summer Series #2, is providing 100% of
the food and beverages and also serving them to the runners.
Sandra reported that she and Lee Baker marked and measured our course at Reach 11 for SS#2. Sandra
also stated The Crown King Scramble 2006 has a signed agreement. Karla Averill and Monique Coady are
presenting "The Mongrel Marathon" in October or November. The run is a 2.62-mile event to be run
with your "mongrel" and will benefit the new dog park at Steele Park in Phoenix. Sandra mentioned
AZTECH Training would like to see ARR consider presenting a training program for The Rock n Roll
Marathon. Further discussion will follow. The treasurer’s report indicates a balance of $4000.00 and
a $2000.00 deposit ready for the bank.
Extensive discussions followed in regard to The Steering Committee. Factually, the committee has
not been productive and has added no value to the club. In addition, four of the five committee
members have resigned. A motion was made and seconded to eliminate The Steering Committee. The
motion was carried by a unanimous vote.
Meeting adjourned at 9:00 P.M.
